SOLO 5K RUN - Rexona 10 Miler Manila Leg

Exactly 2 weeks after completing my first 3k run, I'm running 5k, and this time all by myself!

Was I scared? - ofc! my social anxiety was through the roof

Did I do it anyway? yes (I wasn't letting my money go to waste! lol)

Honestly, I don’t mind going alone. Sure, it’s nerve-wracking, but I’m at a point where I just want to tick this off my bucket list. I’m no longer waiting around for someone to join me. I’ll sign up for whatever I want and just go for it.

The fun run will be held in Quirino Grandstand in Manila and it's been YEARS since the last time I was in the city, and it's the first time running in the area so I'm confused af lol. I just ran my first fun run 2 weeks ago, I'm still not familiar with the whole thing!

My Grab ride got pulled over because the roads were closed for the event, so I had to walk the rest of the way. I had no idea where to go at first, but luckily, I saw other runners heading in the same direction — so I just followed the crowd until I found the venue.

Dropped off my bag at the baggage counter and did a quick warm-up while waiting for the 5km gun start.

After a while, all the 5K runners were called to the starting line, and just like that, we were off!

It felt a bit intimidating running solo, but the energy from the community was so warm and encouraging.

I’m not a fast runner at all. Honestly, I’ve never even maintained a 7-minute pace—I’m a steady 8 kind of girl. Baby steps (literally), thanks to these short legs of mine. Thanks, mom. šŸ˜‚

Before signing up, I had been training to complete a 5K slowly so my body could get used to the distance. The toughest part? Definitely building up my stamina, it’s no joke.

Throughout the run, I didn’t aim to break any records. I just wanted to enjoy it and, most importantly, survive. šŸ˜‚

I started feeling exhausted at the 4 km mark, so the walk/run switch was even more frequent by then. My legs were screaming, but I kept pushing one step at a time

Thankful for the water stations T^T yall kept me alive!

the sky was in pretty colors ahhh♄

Here’s a photo of me with my medal after crossing the finish line!

I hung around the venue afterward to watch the awards ceremony and grab my freebies.

I originally planned to complete all the Rexona 10 Miler legs, but I was flying to Boracay on May 4th—so maybe next time!

By the way, this is the Conqueror’s medal you get when you finish all 16K across the series. Isn’t it stunning? ā™„ļø

Before heading home, I mustered up the courage to ask a few ladies to take another photo of me.

Then I walked all the way to Rizal’s Monument in Luneta—which, fun fact, was the design of my medal!

I got photographed too!

Loot bag goodies!

Running solo made me realize that it’s perfectly okay. At the end of the day, it’s you vs. you. You don’t need to wait for anyone, and no one has to wait for you. You can go at your own pace, slow down when needed, and stop if you’re tired. That’s the beauty of it.

Not sure why Strava stats and the chip don't match, but oh well.

Writing this at 2am on a Monday, and I plan on going for a 10k run in about 2 hours—wish me luck!

Thankful for my legs and my heart for not giving out! yall keep the delulu in me that I can really do this running era shit.

Here's to more fun runs and to being healthy. ♄

xoxo
