Attack on Titan Movie
What better way to start my day than with a depressing movie I’ve already seen twice—except this time, on the big screen for some emotional damage promax? lol
Hi kids, today' we're gonna watch your Dad (Levi) for the last time. Also, if you haven't noticed, posting this on Valentine's Day because this anime is literally the love of my life♥
Yes, you read that right. Last. As in, this could actually be the last time Attack on Titan airs in cinemas since this is the final part of the whole anime saga. Of course, unless Isayama suddenly wakes up one day, drinks his morning coffee, and thinks, You know what? Let’s make an alternate ending where everyone is alive and happy!
I dragged my friend Yoyo to SM Aura because, for some reason, this thing was exclusive to SM Cinemas. IKR. If I had it my way, I would've gone to SM Megamall because their setup was chef’s kiss—huge standees, full-on AOT shrine vibes—but since Aura was closer and we needed to avoid the weekend stampede of fellow traumatized fans, we settled for convenience over aesthetics.
Now, for the outfit—because yes, even in times of war (and by war, I mean emotionally preparing myself for this movie), one must serve looks. I finally got to ROI my Survey Corps jacket from Oxygen, which has been collecting dust for five years because I only ever wore it thrice. But on this day? It was finally fulfilling its destiny.
Fast forward to Friday afternoon: I booked the 11:15 AM showing. I woke up at 10ish AM. Do the math. Miraculously, I made it to the cinema exactly at 11:15. I barely had time to breathe before the staff handed us our popcorn and drinks and escorted us to our seats. They waited for us before they turned off the lights. I could feel the judgment. The Director’s Club only had a handful of people, but they were all staring. My bad, folks! Yo girl had to sleep after work!
The movie ran for a little over two hours, and I won’t lie—I was a bit lost on exactly where they had left off. (Too much trauma to keep track of, okay?) But I did remember the ending. Oh boy, the ending.
I’m so glad I wore my Survey Corps jacket because the cinema was freezing—I ended up using it as a blanket. What started as a fashion statement turned into a survival tool lol
and after what seemed like an hour, the saddest parts slowly came one by one
💔 Hange’s death and her reunion with the fallen Scouts.
💔 Levi’s "Shinzou wo Sasageyo", complete with emotions (yes, Levi showing emotions).
💔 Mikasa realizing she had to kill Eren to stop the rumbling.
💔 The mountain scene between Eren and Mikasa </3
💔 Mikasa chopping off Eren’s head... and then kissing it.
💔 Eren throwing a full-on man-child tantrum in the Paths because he didn’t want Mikasa to move on.
💔 Armin sobbing at the sight of Eren’s severed head in Mikasa’s arms.
no pics from this part coz I wailed with Armin!!!
💔 Mikasa sitting at Eren’s grave, saying she misses him. (Still crying ofc)
ty Yoyo for snapping this photo, now I know how ugly my double chin looked, Jusko!
MAPPA Animation Appreciation!
Too much happening, heartache, and misery in the anime that Isayama thought the only way to cheer up the traumatized fans was to create an alternate universe for the trio lol
I think Attack on Titan ended exactly the way it should have. If Isayama suddenly decided, you know what, let’s give everyone a happy ending, it wouldn’t have felt right. Sure, it would’ve healed me (and trust me, I need that), but for a story this brutal, a neat little fairytale ending would’ve felt... off.
Eren being the villain was tragic, but in the end, he did it for his friends. He wasn't left with much choice. It was horrible. It was painful. But it was AOT
I've said it before, I don't watch much shounen genre coz I'm a shoujo genre girlie through and through but this sits at the top of my list for being the all time fave anime. And no matter what, I'll always be a Levi and Eren girl!!!
So kids, one day when you’re out in the world, watch this masterpiece. It’s not pretty. In fact, it’s traumatizing. But stay for the plot (and for Levi, because your mom has taste).
ok bye
Grasya
